If Only It Were That Simple

This book was really an insult to my intelligence. Where did she get her PH.D from a Cracker Jack box? Her book is page after page of stereotypical cliches! I CAN NOT believe that made a comment about Tommy Hilfiger appearing on Oprah saying that he didn't want black people wearing his clothes. If that isn't the oldest urban legend. Come on! Was there no fact checking involved in this process? Then she says that black women need to learn to embrace themselves as God made them and then turns around and says if you don't like your hair alter it!

What a waste of money! Hide this book from your impressionable teenage daughters!

Cornish's Choices Are Sweet!

She's done it again-telling it like it is! As always, Dr. Cornish gives it to you straight, no chaser. In "10 Good Choices" she challenges black women to take back their power and their lives from the bad relationships, bad careers, bad investments, bad companies, and bad memories. It is clear that she has a personal interest in putting her fellow sisters (and keeping them) on the path to becoming their best selves, living their best lives-something we ALL were put on this planet to do.
In life, we have choices to make, she explains, and Cornish's `good choices' are sweet, ones that will bring the reader joy and abundance-if she (or he, because, fellas, this nongender-specific, practical and timely advice is applicable to you too!) is willing to uncross the arms, open the mind and embrace life-change. From `Accepting Better Love' and `Making Money Work for You,' to `Giving Stress a Perpetual Rest' and `Rewriting Your Life's Script,' there is something to be gotten here by all--young or "seasoned."
The author's consistent theme of self-love and -care (based on the foundation of empowering one to having a strong sense of self, value, direction, humor, belonging and being) is reminiscent of--at the risk of making comparisons--"Dr. Phil (as in "Tell-It-Like-It-Is" McGraw of "The Oprah Winfrey Show). Excellent for every woman!!!

This is a modern-day classic bestseller! Any woman who wants to achieve more in life will really enjoy reading this helpful and important guidebook. It is not a frivilous quick fix, but an effective step-by-step blueprint for achieving success. Dr. Cornish's writing is real, honest, and straight-forward, with a lot of compassion and wisdom. This book has received many positive reviews, both from the media and sisters around the country. I read only "one" negative review, which was posted on this website from a reader in Atlanta. The reviewer incorrectly claimed that in the book, Dr. Cornish wrote about designer "Tommy Hillfiger on the Oprah show." I read and re-read the book, and to Dr. Cornish's credit the book never ever mentioned Mr. Hillfiger's name in that setting. The reviewer used bad judgment and her assumption was unfortunate. However, "one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch." That is to say, there are a whole "bunch" of successful-minded sisters, like me, who have been helped by reading the "10 Good Choices That Empower Black Women's Lives." It was the #1 pick in the "Sisters On The Move" reading group. Keep up the terrific work Dr. Grace Cornish. An Entertaining Read to the Last Page

This was Joel Rosenberg in his finest form!

I started Without Warning this evening with the idea of reading just a few chapters. It’s now 3am, I’m bleary eyed and wondering where the past 6 hours have gone. I’ve read many of Mr. Rosenberg’s books over the years and next to the Copper Scroll this was my favorite. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with Book II but Without Warning was a fantastic and believable read to the very end. Talk about a page turner. Wow.

For this third and final installment in the J.B. Collins series Mr. Rosenberg, in his unique way, takes current events and weaves a heart pounding thriller which makes you think seriously about the issues of our day. Even if you are not interested in politics, terrorism, international relations, Israel or spiritual issues this was just a well written and entertaining read.

And just about the time you think you've figured out the plot, Mr. Rosenberg throws in a twist that will leave you speechless.

"Without Warning," Joel C. Rosenberg's long anticipated conclusion to the bestselling and I suspect award winning J.B. Collins series, releases March 14. The complex political thriller mirrors current global events with an action-packed account that includes a religious madman, apocalyptic Islam, "catastrophic terror attacks inside the American homeland," a budding love story and so much more.

Readers join journalist J.B. Collins in the Oval office where he waits for the president to finalize the State of the Union speech for the joint session of Congress. Collins knows the president's popularity is soaring in the polls after his recent rescue in the Middle East ("First Hostage" 2016) yet he suspect's the president has "been blindsided by an enemy he neither truly understands nor sees coming." Especially ISIS leader, Abu Khalif who continues to behead, crucify and enslave "men, women and children who get in his way."

Collins, the only westerner who interviewed Khalif and knows what he looks like, believes the "world's most wanted and dangerous man" is underestimated by the president. Make sure you aren't busy when you start this book - you won't want to put it down.

Mr. Rosenberg is my personal favorite novelist. Certainly of those alive today. I waited a long time to get this book and picked it up the day of its release.

When you start reading the book just make sure you're not busy and have a few days to just stay focused on the read. Because you really will have a hard time finding many stopping points where you'll be ok to put it down for a while.

I won't give away anything about the book - but the ending will surprise some. Because I know Mr. Rosenberg's style I picked up on the ending target a little early. I enjoyed the read as I always do.

The only reason I gave it four stars was I could tell Mr. Rosenberg was getting some pressure to finish the book from his publisher because near the end I felt as though he moved way to quickly. The story seemed to stop suddenly and pick up later and at times it felt a tad "rushed" to finish.

But overall I loved the book and will be paitently Mr. Rosenberg's next novel.

5th Grade Simple (and that's a good thing)

I'm very impressed by the straightforwardness in which Scott Alan Turner presents his financial advice and tips. He makes it abundantly clear that the information he writes about has been gathered from professionals and has been applied by himself. He understands that in order to get started on the road to financial independence, many people are intimidated by the financial intricacies. Scott Alan sifts through the deluge of savings and finance and pans out the best nuggets to get started. Yes, he says his intention was to make it 5th grade simple and for that I'm grateful. I always wanted someone to explain it to me without feeling embarrassed for not knowing the fundamentals. Now I feel like I can begin with a sense of direction. Thanks Scott!

Understandable, educating and entertaining

Easy to understand, down to earth and helpful book to better navigate your finances. The author has a great approach and an entertaining style, not the boring, dry voice you would expect from the subject.
The extra bonuses are also very generous and great information. Definitely a must read!

Get this book and read it! Then do it!

First of all, I am likely not Scott Alan Turner’s target market for his book, as I am a CFP/ Fee-Only planner. However, since I do this for a living, it allows me to evaluate this book from a different point of view from readers. Secondly, full disclosure, I have known Scott personally for many years and expected something wonderful. But Scott exceeded even that high bar. This book is a big winner!

Most financial/investment writers and practitioners tend to complicate and obfuscate in order to make themselves look smarter than their readers or clients. On the other hand, Scott cuts through the mystery and voodoo of personal financial planning and simplifies. He uses a breezy, conversational style that makes it appropriate for everyone from novices to guys like me (I picked up some great stories to use with clients).
I couldn’t recommend this more highly. Scott explains the basic the basics of investing in simple English. It’s solid advice; the kind you rarely get from the talking heads on TV, radio, and the rest of the media. Scott backs it all up with good solid research; this is not his opinion, it’s facts, but presented in a way that your Grandmother could understand.
