About the Author
Alan Farmer is a widely published academic on modern American, European and British history. He taught history to students of all ages for all his working life. He was Head of History at the University of Cumbria until retiring in 2006.

Text Book

Access to History Britain and the American Colonies was purchased for use in my son's American Government & Economy class in High School. The teacher had asked that everyone get a copy since the school system no longer provided it and it was a good resource to study the period from 1740-1789. Since the book is written & published in Great Britain the use of certain British words we Americans are not accustomed to seeing gives an interesting insight into the culture from which America was based. It's also interesting that we're using a British textbook to teach our US students. The perspective on events that occured during that period is quite interesting.
