About the Author
E. Russell ("Rusty") Braziel is one of the most respected authorities in the field of energy information and markets. With an extensive trading and analytics background in the markets for natural gas, natural gas liquids and crude oil, he is uniquely qualified to interpret the economic, commercial and pricing consequences of the shale revolution.
Rusty is president and CEO of RBN Energy, a leading energy consultancy providing analysis and advisory services, best known for its rock-music themed Daily Energy Post, a blog that goes deep into the details about energy market trends, the mechanics of how energy markets function, and the workings of economic and operational energy models.
The musical theme of RBN's daily blog harkens back to Braziel's previous career in the music industry. From the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s he played bass, guitar and pedal steel in a number of rock and country groups in East Texas, Tulsa and Los Angeles.
Rusty spent 20 years with Texaco (now Chevron), serving as Vice President of Natural Gas Marketing and Trading and Manager of NGL Supply. Subsequently he was Vice President of Business Development for The Williams Companies, President of Altra Energy Technologies and co-owner of Bentek Energy. Outstanding! By far, the best book on the energy markets that I've read in years.

This is not the story from the outside in, it is the story from the inside out. Braziel has spent his entire career in energy markets -- as a trader, in technology, in business development and now in analytics – and you can tell it from his real world description of events, and from his insights that cut through the hype and misinformation that usually accompanies explanations of today’s energy market turmoil. The book argues that everything that has happened in the shale era has happened for a reason. And that the reasons can not only be understood – they can be anticipated. For anyone that wants to understand where crude oil and natural gas markets are headed, this is the book to read.

Good oil/Gas book very current

I've read most of the fracking oil books. This book does a good job of explaining historic oil and gas, along with current issues. Explains enough of the physics of oil and gas. Also helped me understand the place of NGL's in the mix. Does good job of explaining North America status as oil/gas producer, and what that means for the US. Discusses the Midstream importance in affecting Hub prices. Didn't help me pic good MLP from a Bad MLP. Worth the money and time

The best $10 I ever spent

This book is a must read for any entrepreneur or senior manager wanting to gain more knowledge of the energy markets. Through his extensive experience Rusty Braziel explains the trends and why they occur based on the economics of each. I read his blog every day and now am recommending his book to all. Well done, 5 stars
