During the first half of the 20th century, Warwick Deeping published seventy-two books of novels and short stories, including the best-seller, Sorrell and Son.
In addition to his many novels, he also wrote over two hundred short stories, novellas, and essays that were never published in book form and were presented only in popular fiction magazines of the era, such as The Strand, The Story-Teller, and Cassell’s Magazine. As there are few surviving copies of these vintage publications, virtually all of these stories have been “lost” to contemporary readers of Warwick Deeping.
The Lost Stories Of Warwick Deeping – Volume I, contains the first selection of these works. Great addition to my Deeping collection

I'll be forever grateful to the Warwick Deeping fan who has painstakingly sought out all the lost stories of WD found in various dusty periodicals over several decades. He has compiled not just one chunkster, but SIX volumes of almost six hundred pages EACH, available to purchase on Amazon. Amazing!
I've been chewing over this volume for a couple of months now, using it as one would coffee beans, sniffing them between perfume testing to cleanse the senses. It's been perfect.
I never thought I was a fan of short stories, but I'm finding recently that I really am; when you have to read in snatches, short stories really fit the bill.
And Deeping fits the bill. End of story.

Great storyteller from the early 20th Century

It's taken me a few months to read this mighty volume of 567 pages. The final 3 pages include details of where and when each of the 42 short stories were published. The author tested out plot lines and characters in some of these stories that would later be used in novels. Whether your interest is in historical fiction set prior to the Great War or later, you'll find much enjoyment and pleasure in this fine collection. I can thoroughly recommend it, not only to fans, but to all discerning readers.
